Atban bin Malik, an Ansari companion who participated in the Battle of Badr, faced difficulty attending congregational prayers due to his impaired vision and the flooding of a valley that lay between his home and the mosque. He approached the Prophet (peace be upon him) and humbly requested him to visit his home and offer prayer there, so he could dedicate that spot for worship.
Honoring his request, the Prophet (peace be upon him) visited his house and asked, “Where in your house do you want me to pray?” Atban pointed to a corner, and the Prophet prayed two rak’ahs at that spot. This blessed act transformed that corner into a place of spiritual significance.
